Originally from Sydney, Martin has been part of the Victor Harbor community since 2018.

He’s become an integral part of local organisations including;

• The South Coast Choral and Arts Society
• Business Victor Harbor
• BNI South Coast

As part owner of See Optometry, he has advanced skills in vision, child development and learning, and the effects of concussion on vision. Martin is a life long learner, continually updating his skills to remain current.

Martin loves working with people with unique visual needs who require a higher level of vision care, such as brain injury, glaucoma and children with developmental delays. He also values the time he gets to spend with clients who have with less complex needs.

Allow an hour for your one-on-one consultation time.  This provides time to discuss your eye health and ask any questions you may have. A longer appointment means you will not feel rushed, and provides time to discuss the best solutions to any eye issues you are experiencing.

If you require new glasses, we recommend allowing an additional 30 minutes to ensure you have the frames you love.

The full consultation includes all scans, photos and additional tests. The extra scans and tests are:

• Optical coherence tomography scan (OCT)
• Digital retinal imaging
• Visual field testing

See Optometry wants to deliver the best possible care for our patients, and believe that rather than doing these tests every 2nd or 3rd visit, we test you every time  you come in for an eye check so any critical issues are picked up earlier. The tests are important to detect eye disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease that if not caught can lead to blindness.

Medicare will provide a rebate of between $33 to $66, depending on the outcome of your eye test. Your rebate will be processed for you on the day of your appointment.

Tests done for children are different to those done for adults.

We are still ensuring your child’s eyes are free from disease, but we are also testing to ensure that there are no developmental issues, reading and spelling issues or confusion with letters/numbers.

You’ll have a full eye health consultation with Martin that will include:

• A check of your vision
• Checking your current prescription
• An in-depth discussion of your daily visual needs, including work, driving and hobbies
• A full eye health check for:
  • Cataracts
  • Macular degeneration
  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetic eye disease
• Digital imaging scans to see the finer details inside your eye

Your consultation and the scans will provide Martin (your optometrist) with a full understanding of your long-term vision health. All findings will be discussed on the day with you.

Have you ever thought about prescription sunglasses? They’re not as expensive as you think and are a good addition to regular glasses.

If you want more flexibility than what you have with glasses, consider contact lenses. Technology advances mean that most people can now find a lens that suits them. You can even have multifocal contact lenses, giving you the best vision for drive, reading and using computer screens with one pair of lenses!
