Children’s Eyecare
Eye problems can arise at any age, but if problems are identified early, they can be effectively treated.
Children’s eye care is a speciality of our practice, so you don’t need to wait until your child can recognise the letters of the alphabet, we are able to test without a letter chart effectively.
It’s recommended that all children between 4-5 years of age are tested for the presence of amblyopia (lazy eye) or strabismus (squint). If picked up early, the condition can be simply managed.
Early detection of lazy eye (amblyopia) is essential so that it can be treated. In most cases, amblyopia is treated with glasses and/or occlusion therapy.
If your child needs glasses, we have a wide selection of frames especially designed for younger people, and we can help choose suitable frames.
80% of learning in Primary School is visually based, some children struggle in this environment because of undetected eye problems.
