See Optometry Kids provides compassionate and professional support for children. We believe that every child deserves a thorough assessment to ensure vision does not hold back their potential.
Our Optometrist, Martin Diep has over 10 years experience as a paediatric optometrist working with
- children with special needs,
- children with learning difficulties, and
- neurodiverse children.
A Fellow of the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists, he assesses vision beyond eyesight, and investigates how the brain processes visual information.

For Optometrists
We work with children requiring complex visual assessments:
- Neurodiversity – autism, ADHD, dyslexia, intellectual disabilities
- Binocular vision dysfunctions
- Strabismus and amblyopia
- Unexplained headaches related to reading
- Tracking difficulties
- Visual processing dysfunctions
- Photophobia
Our services complement your general optometric care by offering detailed Behavioural Vision Assessments and Vision Therapy Plans for children who require more than standard testing.
For Allied Health Professionals
Our visual perceptual assessments complement speech pathology, occupational therapy, and psychology evaluations.
We focus on skills such as:
- Tracking – skipping or repeating lines when reading
- Visual spatial perception – letter reversals, gross motor and bilateral integration
- Visual-motor integration – hand writing and sports
- Visual-auditory integration – spelling and writing
- Visual memory – spelling
- Visual analysis – reading and spelling
Reports and recommendations will be sent to you so you can tailor your therapy to better meet the outcomes of your patients.
We can also provide vision therapy to remediate these difficulties to help support your therapy.
For GPs and Paediatricians
If a parent mentions these symptoms, a comprehensive paediatric vision assessment is warranted:
- Blurry vision
- Double vision
- Headaches
- Difficulties in school
- Issues with reading or concentration
Martin has further training in managing visual dysfunctions in the neurodiverse population (autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dyslexia and intellectual disabilities) and developmental disorders (cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, etc). He will explore whether visual processing may be contributing to these symptoms.
Our comprehensive assessments go beyond clarity and look at how vision functions for learning and life.
