Primary Eyecare for GPs

This workshop will allow GP’s to broaden their knowledge of ocular disease while using the most up to date equipment to understand the current treatments for preventing vision loss within our communities.

With a key focus on the critical role GP’s play in the multidisciplinary area of ocular health, attendees will walk away with personalised procedures and protocols that can be implemented specifically for their method of daily practice.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Differentiate the leading causes of preventable vision loss
2. Develop an ocular health review schedule for those patients at increased risk of vision loss.
3. Determine the most appropriate prescription of eye drops for common eye diseases
4. Demonstrate proficiency in examining the anterior eye with the slit lamp biomicroscope
5. Determine when a patient needs emergency referral to a tertiary health service for specialist care
